Dams, Water & Transmission Lines

Dams, drinking-water transmission lines and water conveyance projects are expected to serve without interruption for decades. These lines use large-diameter steel, HDPE and GRP pipe, and the joints are the weakest link. A leak at a single joint means water loss, road or ground collapse, damage to farmland and an expensive excavation and repair. Once the line is buried, finding and correcting the fault is far harder. That is why making joints correctly, and verifying them before commissioning, is the core requirement of this sector.

The Technical Pipeline pneumatic pipe joint test robot (10″–60″) was developed for exactly this need. On HDPE pipe, it trims the internal bead left by butt-fusion welding, then tests the weld using the robot’s own two O-ring seals. On GRP pipe, it pressure-tests the bell-and-spigot joint to confirm the coupling seal is seated correctly. The robot’s test pressure is 12 bar, and testing is hydrostatic, carried out in a water-filled test pool rather than with gas. Our pipe stands, transport systems and pipe raiser also help crews handle long, heavy pipe safely in the trench and in the yard. In water lines, reliability is not added afterwards; it is built in at the moment of installation.
