MARINE PIPE PULLING EQUIPMENT

Towing Cone / Towing Funnel

Hydrodynamic Leading-End Pipe String Guide for Offshore Tow-Outs (20" - 60")

The leading end of a pipe string under tow needs to move through the water cleanly, without catching current, debris, or the seabed as it advances. Technical Pipeline's Towing Cone/Towing Funnel fits onto the leading pipe end, tapering the profile so the string tracks smoothly behind the tow vessel rather than presenting a flat, drag-inducing face to the water.

The cone clamps onto the pipe end with a screw-actuated steel body and a rubber contact surface that grips securely without damaging the pipe. Its tapered shape reduces towing resistance and helps the lead end ride evenly as the string is pulled out to position. The cone is available in twenty standard models covering 20" to 60" (508-1524 mm), matching the same size range as the rest of the marine pulling equipment line.

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES

Engineered to minimize hydrodynamic drag, prevent seabed snagging, and protect the leading pipe end during marine deployment.

LOW DRAG

Tapered Hydrodynamic Profile

Streamlined conical design significantly reduces towing resistance and prevents turbulent bow waves during marine tow-out.

HIGH RIGIDITY

Screw-Actuated Steel Body

Heavy-duty structural steel framework clamps rigidly around the pipe end to withstand massive towing bollard pulls and wave forces.

PIPE SAFE

Protective Rubber Contact

High-friction rubber contact lining distributes clamping pressure evenly, preventing gouging or distortion of HDPE or coated steel pipes.

STABLE TOW

Smooth Lead-End Tracking

Keeps the leading end riding stably and evenly through currents, preventing snout diving, seabed snagging, and debris accumulation.

OFFSHORE TOWING & INSTALLATION SOLUTIONS

Engineered for marine pipe pulling, outfall/intake float-and-sink operations, and coastal pipeline crossings.

Float-and-Sink Outfall & Intake Pipelines

Ensures the leading end of large-diameter intake and outfall lines tracks cleanly during tow-out prior to controlled sinking.

Long Open-Water Tow-Outs

Minimizes drag and wave resistance on extended offshore pipe string pulls behind tugboats or installation barges.

River, Lake & Coastal Pipeline Crossings

Prevents leading pipe end from digging into the seabed or catching submerged debris during bottom pulls.

Marine Dredging Pipeline Deployment

Protects and streamlines leading pipe ends during frequent relocations of floating or submerged dredge lines.
