SEALING AND PRESSURE TESTING FOR MARINE PIPE STRINGS

Before a pipe string goes into the water, its joints need to be verified sound under pressure — and once afloat, the same seal keeps water out of the bore so the string floats as intended. Technical Pipeline's Pipe Test Plug does both jobs: it seals the open end of the pipe securely enough to hold a test pressure, letting the installation crew confirm the string is leak-tight before and during tow-out. A screw-actuated steel body drives a circular rubber sealing face out against the pipe bore, forming a reliable seal across the full range of the plug. Because larger-diameter plugs carry proportionally higher total force across their sealing face at a given pressure, the rated test pressure steps down as size increases — 1 bar for 20" to 38" models, 0.7 bar for 40" to 48" models, and 0.5 bar for 50" to 60" models. The plug is available in twenty standard models covering 20" to 60" (508-1524 mm).

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES

Engineered for leak-tight pressure verification and dependable buoyancy control during offshore marine pipeline pulls.

LEAK-TIGHT

Screw-Actuated Circular Seal

Screw-driven mechanism forces a heavy-duty circular rubber face against the pipe bore, providing a tight, uniform pressure seal.

OFFSHORE RATED

Heavy-Duty Steel Construction

Rugged steel body engineered to withstand hydrostatic backpressures and harsh marine environments without deformation.

0.5 - 1.0 BAR

Size-Graded Pressure Ratings

Calibrated test pressures step down with diameter (1.0 bar, 0.7 bar, 0.5 bar) to balance total sealing thrust on large bores.

DUAL FUNCTION

Dual Testing & Buoyancy Sealing

Enables pressure testing of welded joints prior to launching while maintaining a dry bore for controlled string flotation during towing.
